Old Red Museum Unveils Erik Jonsson Exhibit #JFKDay
It was 50 years ago this November that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while traveling through Dallas’ Dealey Plaza in a presidential motorcade. The tragedy shocked a nation and would become a defining moment in each Americans’ life. This month, many will be coming to Dallas to mourn Kennedy’s untimely death and to honor the life of one of the most revered presidential figures in American history. Yesterday, the Old Red Museum, which faces Dealey Plaza, unveiled an exhibit called “Dream No Small Dreams” that details the work of Major J. Dallas Arboretum Adventures into a Children’s Garden
My family was invited to preview the newest addition to the Dallas Arboretum, the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. It is an 8-acre wonderland that just might be the best kids destination in the area. The garden, which opens to the public on Saturday, September 21, is an expansive tract just east of the main arboretum grounds that contains 17 galleries with more than 150 interactive exhibits. Once you get past the main entry plaza — and if you have young kids, good luck with that, as its dancing fountain is a natural attraction — choosing what to see next can be a bit challenging.Every area in the garden is…

Netflix and Amazon Instant Video Enhances Homeschooling
Remember those days when your teacher pulled out the projector to show old science or social studies films to enhance your knowledge about a subject. Fast forward to the 21st century school, where we no longer use projectors, VHS or even DVDs. We stream all our entertainment though companies like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu+, etc. The homeschool classroom is not different. To enhance my kids knowledge, I was so glad to discover Netflix and Amazon offer a plethora of shows on the subjects that I am currently teaching – Astronomy and Africa. I have organized and purchased all the school supplies and curriculum for the new school year to prepare for this day – THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
