What is Texas Without Food Trucks?!

Food trucks have taken over Dallas/Fort Worth area! Packing a lunch is one more thing you can scratch off your to-do list for this evening. Trucks like The Butcher’s Son food truck is making traveling around town easier to enjoy a delicious lunch. The Butcher’s Son, a “haute sausage” serving gourmet food truck, prides itself on its chef-built and chef-tested menu. The Sergeant Pepper (pictured below) is my favorite. Cash and credit cards are accepted, and it’s a beautiful, so go ahead and head to them as they are NOT the same trucks seen at construction sites.

In Addison, the “Food Truck Invasion” is EVERY THURSDAY until May 12, 2012, as food trucks join up at Vitruvian Park by the new Ponte Bridge!  Rock and Roll Taco, Easy Sliders, The Butcher’s Son, Nammi Truck and Enticed Shaved Ice will be serving up delicious eats! And, a DJ will also be serving up some great music to make the night even better (and its BYOB.)

In Frisco, THIS SATURDAY they are having an event called Frisco StrEATS. The buzz is around Coolhaus, an Los Angeles well-known food truck, who is debuting in Texas here.  Coolhaus DFW will be run through a partnership from the founders of Coolhaus and the founders of Dallas’ Nammi Vietnamese food truck. Joining Coolhaus at the Frisco StrEATS event will be Nammi, The Butcher’s Son, Cajun Tailgators, Easy Slider, EatJoDawgs, RockStar Bakeshop, SoCal Tacos, Zombie’s and Ssahm.

In Dallas, THIS SUNDAY the Texas Chefs Association will be teaming up with area firefighters and Dallas/Fort Worth chefs to host Chefs on Fire, an all-day community block party featuring concessions from area establishments, food trucks, live entertainment, fire safety education and family-friendly activities. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place at The Shops at Park Lane on the southeast corner of Central Expressway and Park Lane. There are a number of food trucks participating in Chefs on Fire, including The Bomb Fried Pies, The Butcher’s Son, Cajun Tailgators, Easy Slider, Gandolfo’s, Gennarino’s, Jack’s Chowhound, Little Vessel, Nammi, Paul Brooks, Rock and Roll Taco, Ruthie’s Rolling Café, Tin Star Taco Taxi and Trailercakes.

Also, May 11 and 12, there will be a statewide festival called TX Food Trucks Fest. The top food trucks from all over the great state of Texas will be here in Dallas with proceeds benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, North Texas Chapter.

There’s no excuse for you NOT to try a local food truck & you won’t regret it. Remember, food trucks move, weather causes changes, and engines break down. Don’t miss out on these TEXAS EDITION food trucks. (Cue the deep manly voice)

Food trucks are making a name for themselves here recently with Tucson Food Truck Roundup about once a month – lots of variety and a really fun atmosphere! Hoping they stick around for a long time.
