Big 12 Apps for Students

Once upon a time, not so many years ago, students not only had to survive without smartphones, they didn’t even have cell phones! Plans had to be made in advance, students had to carry around assignment notebooks to keep track of schedules and deadlines and actual paper address books were required to keep track of your friends.

Luckily, times have changed! These days, students have smartphones, as well as  apps that can make life as a student even easier. It is no secret that I attended University of Texas, a Big 12 school. To stay in theme and to show my support for the Big 12, Verizon Wireless and I want to share the Big 12 apps that will make students’ lives easy and efficient:

FOR STUDIES
1. gFlash – Creates flashcards to quiz students for upcoming tests and acts as study guide on your phone.
2. iStudiez Pro/Course Pro – Organizes your classes, syllabi, upcoming tasks and assignments, and important deadlines with this college scheduling app.
3. Evernote – Takes notes, creates notes by snapping a photo, records voice reminders and creates important lists directly on your phone.
4. Future Scheduler – Helps you in scheduling text messages, emails, status update and phone calls.

FOR JOB SEARCH
5. Interview Pro – Adds new questions on a daily basis. Asks common interview questions and helps you figure out the right answer.
6. JobCompass – Uses your location to find businesses that are hiring in your area.
7. Job Search HireADroid – Uses multiple job search engines from LinkedIn to CareerBuilder, and lets students look up job postings under one single query.

FOR FINANCIAL PLANNING
8. UrbanSpoon – A slot machine of nearby food options. It allows you to pick pricing points for the budget-friendly college student.
9. Billski – Helps you stay on top of due dates of payments and amounts owed. It also lets you set up reminders and display the date paid.
10. Mint.com Personal Finance – The perfect personal finance app for college students to create, budget and help stretch their budget.

FOR TRAVEL
11. WHERE – Gives you real-time information on cheap gas, weather forecasts, movie showtimes, restaurant recommendations, traffic conditions and news headlines.
12. WiFi Finder – Uses GPS to find Wi-Fi spots close to where you are while you’re in a new destination.
