Tom Thumb Has Gone Mobile Just 4 U

Tom Thumb, Safeway, Randall’s, Dominick’s and Von’s has launched their new e-coupon program called Just For U. Honestly, I am not a fan of paper coupon because it takes sooo much work to find them, cut them and remember to bring them to the store. The last point is REALLY my main reason of not couponing. BUT, when Tom Thumb told me that with Just For U, I can select my savings with a click of button on my smartphone, I was immediately intrigued. For this tech-savvy mom, it was exactly what I needed for shopping on a budget. The Just For U program has three separate sections: the Coupon Center, Personalized Deals (This section is what sold me!) and Club Specials.

Coupon Center
The coupon center contained both store and manufacturer’s coupons. The store’s in ad coupons are located as e-coupons.  These are stackable with manufacturer’s coupons. You need to load them to your card, it is not done automatically.  This is done by clicking the red “Add to My Card” button. The “Add to My List” is optional, but see below why it’s useful. By the way, manufacturer’s e-coupons can only be used once.

Personalized Deals
Personalized Deals are just that, personalized.  They are based on your last 6 months purchase history, which is refreshed every 30 days, so you will see items start or stop appearing based on what you are buying right now.  These are store coupons and can be stacked with manufacturer’s coupons.  New ones are added every Wednesday with the weekly ad.  Some last a week and some last a month, most are unlimited in their usage, unless otherwise stated.  You do have to load these to your card, by clicking the red bar. This section is where I selected the most “Add to My Card” as you would expect, and I love that the deals are exclusive.

Club Specials
Did you know that every week  approximately 5,000 to 6,000 items are on sale? Obviously, stores cannot put this all in their ads. The only way to find these other items is by the yellow tags in store or on the Club Specials section on the website.  It is again arranged by your purchase history with items important to you at the top.  The Club Special section is not available on the mobile app.

My List
The “My List” option allows you to take your e-coupons and any other items you wish to type in and sent to your phone.  This list can be shared and synced with other phones, such as someone else shopping in the same store or someone updated the list from home.

I have used the app a couple of times, and it is super user-friendly. I used both methods of loading coupons via the Just For U website and in-store, and both the processes went smoothly. Realistically, I will be using the in-store method most of the time. I really liked being able to add coupons right there in the store. Talk about convenient.

All you need to go grocery shopping on a budget nowadays is your smartphone and your money. Let the app and store provide the rest JUST FOR U! 😉
