How to Practice Clean Living

IMG_1201Lately, I have seen so many people say they are starting “clean eating.” I get why. You feel better, look better and think better. What I noticed though is there were lots of regimens, rules and supplements that they taking to pursue “clean eating.” I am here to tell you that clean eating is also simple eating. Here are 7 things that you can do to achieve a clean lifestyle, and after a few days, your body will CRAVE these things.

  1. Drink 32 ounces of clean, purified water. This means before you drink your coffee, before you go for your run and certainly before you eat that huge breakfast. I have to add a little lemon to my water for me to drink. Your body has been detoxing itself for the last 8 hours. Flush them out. The water is not only cleansing, it is hydrating and energizing.
  2. Do deep breathing exercises and scheduled quiet moments in your day. Inhale through your nose for 6 seconds, then exhale for 6 seconds. Repeat 8 times. Calms the mind and clear your head, reduces anxiety and tension, increases metabolism, energizes and strengthens the immune system.
  3. Remove artificial sweeteners. Sweet-n-Low. Equal. Splenda. Stevia. Studies show sweeteners can raise insulin levels, cause brain tumors, foggy brain, migraines, fibromyalgia and even cancer.
  4. Add an extra green to your day. Add steamed broccoli to your salad, spinach to your smoothie. Slice up some cucumbers. Just add one EXTRA a day.
  5. Have a daily probiotics. Probiotics are the healthy bacteria our digestive tract needs to keep our bodies healthy. Our immune system primarily resides in our digestive tract. The healthy bacteria has been sabotaged with processed foods, antibiotics and other chemical stresses we put on our bodies.
  6. Take brisk walk 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes. A walk is good for circulation, mood and metabolism. Just do it! 😉
  7. Sleep. Get at least 8 hours. Adequate sleep will keep your cortisol levels in check (regulates blood sugar levels and blood pressure) and keeps your mood elevated.

    Hey Jennifer,
Excellent information. Was curious why you put Stevia in the artificial sweeteners section?
Thanks for all that you do.
