Get in on the Action at MetroCooking Show

This weekend in Dallas, local culinary explorers will be entertained by their favorite local chefs as well as Paula Deen and Bobby Flay from the Food Network at the Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show. The event takes place at the Dallas Convention Center and offers a plethora of events to keep even those with very short attention spans busy gawking at the latest cooking trends, gadgets and techniques.

MetroCooking Dallas has partnered with the James Beard Foundation to present a rotating roster of Texas-based talent set to entertain and enlighten attendees on an exclusive cooking stage.  The current list of James Beard affiliated chefs include Stephan Pyles, Tre Wilcox, Richard Chamberlain, Adam West, Bruno Davaillon and Abraham Salum.

More personalities are conducting a variety of workshops over the weekend, including “Knife Skills” by Paul Hellman and Gunter Wilhelm, “Kitchen Feng Shui” by The Jelly Queens, “Cheese 101” by Rich Rogers of Scardello Cheese and “Easy Chocolate for Home Entertaining” by Sue Williams of Dr. Sue’s Chocolates.  Tasting and entertainment workshops taught by industry experts will expose guests to delightful and unique specialty foods and entertaining ideas. For all the Bobby Flay fans, he appears on stage at 11AM and 4PM Saturday only, and Paula Deen shows up at 1:30PM Saturday and noon on Sunday.

General admission is $24.50, children ages 4-12 are $12.50 and children ages 4 and younger are free. $400 VIP package gives you star treatment which includes premium seating, photo op with meet & greet with your favorite Food Network celebrity, apron & reusable tote and all-day access in VIP Lounge.

The Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show will also be traveling to Washington DC in November 3-4, 2012 featuring Jacques Pepin, Gail Simmons, Carla Hall and Giada De Laurentiis.

I really wish I would have attended the MetroCooking Show this weekend. Next time I will plan in advance and invite another blogger to attend with me. Instead I was camping out with my kids in the backyard on Saturday and at the Cowboys game on Sunday.
