Bikram Yoga is Gonna Make You Sweat!

Today, West Village in Dallas turns the heat on with Bikram Yoga! Originally from India, Bikram Choudhury studied yoga from a very young age. He designed the series of postures to work the entire body inside and out sequentially, using every muscle, system and organ in the body. Practiced in a heated room, the series is a cleansing and strengthening 90 minute class that rejuvenates the body. What is Bikram Yoga? It’s done in a 105-degree room with 40% humidity. It consists of 26 “asanas” or postures and two breathing exercises that are done twice in a row. It’s 90 minutes long. The combination of heat and postures are supposed to be…

Hello, my name is Jennifer, and I’m a social eater! You have probably heard of social drinkers, but how about a social eater? I LOVE food from all places, ethnicities and people. Unfortunately, if I do not have someone to enjoy this food, I tend to forget to eat. I know that sounds silly, but it is true. My hubby travel a lot of business, and it is really hard for me to make a full gourmet meal (even though I truly LOVE to cook.) Women: Friends or Foes?

Women are natural collaborators and community builders, but why does it feel more competitive amongst women than men? As women, are we fighting each other to get to the top, or boosting each other up? I dive into these questions as I write this post. When I can get a chance to work with women on a collaborative basis, we inspire, excite and energize each other. The problem is the barrier to entry. Some women have had to fight so hard to get to where they are that they forget that kindness and grace are equally as important at the bottom as it is at the top. It frustrates me when I…

It’s Not Good to Be Alone

The past year, I have had to do a lot of introspection. Unless you’ve experienced it or love someone who has, this one could easily slip your mind. anx·i·e·ty /aNGˈzī-itē/ Noun 1. A feeling of worry, nervousness or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. 2. Desire to do something, typically accompanied by unease. Have you every heard or even said the follow phrases: “Smile. Be happy!” “Why do you take everything so personal?” “Stop crying already.” “Shake it off.” “Pull yourself together.” “Think happy thoughts, and you’ll be happy.” “You’re being over dramatic right now.” “Can’t you just snap out of it?” “When are…

    Be Focused & Be Purposeful

Recently a lot more space and time has opened up for me, but I’m finding that the freedom of having more space and time comes with a huge challenge. Do I use this time for what’s most important?  How do I know which one, of the many paths, I should pursue? Given that everything is possible, what do you put your energy into? There are dozens of paths to pursue, whether we’re talking relationships, career, projects, hobbies, spiritual disciplines, etc. And the truth is, they are not all equally important. Choosing what’s meaningful and letting go of what’s not central to your path is not easy. To find the answer…
