The CROODS is a Rock Solid Family Movie
Personally, a good family movie is hard to find. Usually most of what you see is marketed as a kids movie, but some of the jokes are crude and geared toward adults. Fortunately, The CROODS proved itself to be a movie for everyone filled with stunning animation, suspense, laugh out loud moments and heart touching scenest. But even more I found something unexpected. THE CROODS is a rich story that bringing up the themes of family. It also shows us fear and how we can overcome it. I love the portrayal of the family and how creativity plays an important part in our life.
DreamWorks’ THE CROODS hits theaters on March 22, 2013. It’s a film that follows this “first family” through a hilarious and outrageous “road trip” through the harsh “Croodaceous” time period. The dynamics of family are a huge part of THE CROODS, and one of the biggest dynamics is that between teenager Eep and her dad Grug. Director Kirk DeMicco added, “A true father-daughter story was pretty unique, and everyone was really engaged by that.”
Despite their tight family bond, the Croods’ world literally is crumbling around them. Eep’s growing rebellion against the physical and mental darkness of cave life also is causing friction with Dad. When she follows the light one night and meets a creative Guy who has knowledge and invents new things. Not only Guy’s introduction to new technology, the protective father’s anxiety over his daughter’s first crush adds the depth of the movie. There are plenty of hysterical moments. My kids favorite character was a sloth named Belt, who is the closest thing Guy has to family. If you know the posh boy, a movie with a sloth in it is a win-win in his book. 😉
Whether it’s to laugh at the changes technology brings to this first family ever, or just to do a little thinking about life and how you always need to reach for the light, your family will want to join The Croods!
Note: The company behind Angry Birds will be launching The Croods app on March 14, 2013. Think Farmville meets “Croodaceous” land.
