Summer Fun Ideas in North Texas

IMG_4973Need inspiration for summer fun in North Texas? Here’s some great ideas for your family!

Bedford Splash – Located at Bedford Boys Ranch Activities Center, this park includes three different pools. The tot pool, better known as “Guppy Cove”, has a Tiki boat slide and a sea turtle Lil’ Squirt. “Splash Beach” entry is zero foot to 3.5 feet, which makes this a perfect play area for children and adults. “Snorkel Bay”, which is a 6-lane, 25-yard lap pool at 4 feet deep, features a family slide with a slide-landing zone, and the “Turbo Twister” a Pro Bowl water slide.

Campbell Green Park – The playground, located near the intersection of Campbell and Keller Springs roads, offers separate playscapes for big and little kids. Older kids will love the playscape’s tall and twisty slides, circular rock wall with kid-sized hand- and footholds and rows of monkey rings. Parents should keep a sharp eye on the rock climbing structure, though, as it could be the perfect place for kids to slip out of sight. The playscape for younger children offers lots of little slides, a small-scale climbing structure and more. After an afternoon of playing on the playscapes, kids can check out the park’s sprayground area.

Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse – The 10-week series of G and PG movies will be offered at several locations, with times and weeks of the series determined by each theater. It’s $5 for a 10-film punch card or $1 at the door. Punch cards must be used at the theater where they are purchased; each punch card includes one admission for each week’s film.

Dallas Arboretum – Check out their awesome Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Flower Village – four topiary houses located in the Pecan Grove depicting the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter and the Adventures of Alice. On Fridays, they have costumed characters strolling around to bring the stories to life as well as a petting zoo, arts & crafts, face painting and Kindermusik from 11AM-11:30AM on the Martin Rutchik Concert Lawn. Tickets are $15 per adult ($12 per senior, $10 per child 3-12 years, free for kids 3 and under) and parking is $5. Kids can play in the bullfrog fountain or the waterfall. On Wednesdays, they offer BOGO FREE entry.

Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art – It’s summertime, and it is time for your kids to stay up late! On the third Friday of each month, browse through the art collections and enjoy concerts, dance performances, films and family programming including Yoga for Kids and Bedtime Stories with Arturo.

Regal’s Summer Movie Express – Regal Theatres will host the Summer Movie Express on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 10AM for nine weeks. Admission is $1 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Will Rogers Institute.

Studio Movie Grill – Each film in the 12-week series costs $2 per adult and $1 per kid. Films run Mondays through Fridays at 11AM and change weekly.

Summer at the Anatole – Treat your family to a fabulous staycation that your family will not forget!
