Huel – Human Fuel and Ready-to-Drink Meals

Summer means that we’re all very busy with the business of summer such as running our kids from activity to activity, vacations, and errands.   Moms are usually stuck with the task of getting everyone fed in between and most of us suffer from mom guilt because a lot of the time we have to rely on fast food to get our children fed quickly.  If you’re like me I always feel like I should do a better job of giving them more nutritional and healthier meals and snacks.   I have the perfect answer for you and it’s a quick and easy and very affordable way to get both yourself and your kids the nutrition you need to keep up the pace!

I recently received samples of a nutritionally complete food called HuelHuel is a UK company which was recently launched in the US after becoming the most popular complete nutrition brand in Europe.  After using it for a week I’m ready to tell you all about it!

First of all,  Huel offers a wide variety of Ready-to-drink meals for when you don’t want to or don’t have time to cook.  Huel also comes in vanilla and chocolate powders (including gluten-free options)and is a perfect balance of carbs, fat and protein, as well as all 27 essential vitamins and minerals in just the right amounts.   Huel has boost flavors also available so that you can customize your nutrition drink such as:  Banana, caramel, mint-chocolate, strawberry, apple cinnamon, chai, mocha, and chocolate.  They are designed to work best with Huel Original and Huel Vanilla.

I started off drinking Huel in place of breakfast and/or lunch.  It not only tastes good but it is very filling and I didn’t get hungry at all, seriously!  After the first couple of days of drinking the vanilla flavor (which I think has a nice “light” and not strong vanilla flavor.  It makes a good base flavor to the added boost flavors of your chose.  I added some of the boost flavors throughout the week and the banana and strawberry flavors are my favorites but the others are nice too.  My 21 year old son tried the mocha and really liked it (BTW he’s sold on Huel and can’t wait to use it when he gets back to college in the fall instead of driving through fast food places every day).  My husband is on board with Huel too because he likes the tastes and really likes the idea of each family member being able to customize their drink with their favorite flavor = saving money on buying several different flavors of the drink.

Key features of Huel include:

–       It’s Easy: Huel is a perfectly balanced and nutritionally complete meal that you can prepare in under one minute
–       Nutritionally Complete: Huel Powder is a nutritionally complete food that is high in protein and fiber, low in sugar and salt, rich in phytonutrients and contains all 27 essential vitamins and minerals
–       Plant-based and Lactose/Soy/GMO-Free: It contains no lactose or any animal products, no soy and no GMO
–       Affordable: Huel starts at just $2.35 for a 400-calorie nutritionally complete meal and bulk and subscription discounts can be enjoyed by anyone for as low as $1.95 per meal
–       Huel is Food: Huel is far superior nutrition to most conventional diets. Huel can replace any meal or even as a between-meal snack. In this way it can be an add-on improvement to your diet to ensure you’re giving your body what it needs.
–       Zero food waste: Because you only use the Huel that you need to consume, and because Huel powder has a 1-year shelf life, Huel produces zero food waste
–       High manufacturing standards: Huel’s facilities and equipment are held to the highest safety standards and regulations
–       Vegan/environmentally friendly: Being vegan and producing zero food waste means Huel has much less of an environmental impact on the planet than many other food products

The branding is very hip and cool – stark black lettering on white background and here’s Huel’s Mission Statement:  “To make nutritionally complete, convenient, affordable food, with minimal impact on animals and the environment.”  I like it, a nutrition drink that has an environmental conscience.

I’m going to continue using Huel for myself for breakfast because I’m really bad about eating breakfast (I usually skip it and I know that’s bad) and I need the combination of nutrition and calories early in the day instead of loading up at the end of the day with a big meal.  I think it will help me hit my goal of losing a little excess pounds too.

So if you’re in the market for a healthy alternative for your own diet and nutrition needs or for your kid’s busy schedule this summer or during the school year this is it!  Huel is huge all around the world, having sold over 40 million meals in over 80 countries so get on the train peeps!
