Grilling Tips and #FoodieChats on the Grill

Oh, GRILLING! How do I love thee, let me count the ways! I’m the girl who loves grilling so much, that my husband can be seen grilling in the middle of a Texas thunderstorm. I admit that I enjoy it more in the spring because now I sit out there with him and watch the kids run around the back yard. Besides being healthy and delicious, grilling spares you a dirty kitchen. Whether you are the grill master or your hubby holds that position, here are a few tips that are sure to help.

  • Before firing up your grill, be sure to brush with a wired grill brush to remove old stuck food.
  • Be sure you start with a hot grill. Add a little vegetable oil on the grill to keep food from sticking.
  • Leave a little space around each food item on the grill. This allows room for flipping and cooking.
  • Do not use a fork to turn the meat because juices will escape. Tongs are a grill master’s best friend.
  • Apply sauces during the last 10 minutes to prevent sauce from burning.

Now are you wondering what to grill? Let me introduce you to one of my favorite online communities called #FoodieChats (yes, the hashtag is part of its name.) #FoodieChats is a group of people who love to cook, eat food and tweet. They talk about all different types of topics revolving around food. The great things about this community is they are from restaurants, blogs and other countries. Now, let me get back to GRILLING. This Monday, the topic of discussion is “On the Grill.”

Join us at 7PM CST to see what food you may want to put “on the grill.”
