Flying at Reliant Kite Relay Competition for New Friends New Life

The 2nd annual Reliant Kite Relay for Charity kicks off this Friday in celebration of the Reliant Trinity River Wind Festival, which takes place this Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 146 W Commerce at the Trinity River viaduct in downtown Dallas. Reliant Energy invited me to compete by flying a kite at least 50 feet in the air while performing an array of “wind related activities at 5 stations” for a charity of my choice. Anything for charity sounds fun to me!

The charity I will be flying for is New Friends New Life (NFNL). Reliant is generously making a $250 donation to each competitor’s charity and $2,500 to the winner’s charity. New Friends New Life is a faith-based organization located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that enables women to leave the degradation of the sex industry and to build new lives for themselves and their children. NFNL help women overcome backgrounds of abuse, addiction, poverty, and limited opportunities by providing access to education, job training, interim financial assistance and spiritual support.

I’d love if you can join me on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11AM-12PM as a NFNL and Real Posh Mom cheerleader. “Hope is knowing that people, like kites, are made to be lifted up.”
