Got a Whole Lotta Love for Bread Zeppelin

Have you ever heard of a soup bowl? How about a salad bowl? If you haven’t, then you NEED to drive out to Irving and try Bread Zeppelin. From the first bite, your tastebuds will have fun with this fresh and fabulous elevated salad!

Wraps are cumbersome, and they fall apart.  Bread Zeppelin understand this, and they came up with the idea of the “zeppelin”: something with a rigid exterior but that was light – like a sub roll but not so bready, an effect they achieve by using Empire Baking Company baguettes in which the center get cored out.Stuffing It similar to other fast-casual concepts such as Chipotle or Salata, with a line where customers choose their ingredients, before heading to a “chopping station” where they can specify salad or sandwich. ChoppedGrab your “zeppelin” sandwich and you can eat on-the-go.ZeppelinDon’t fret out about the bread insides, as they get recycled into croutons. They have about 40 ingredients and 11 signature salads that can also be made into a “zeppelin.” You can also make YOUR OWN bed, mix it up and dress it up in a “zeppelin.” My daughter can testify for the Washington State (grilled chicken, apples, walnuts, beets, blue cheese crumbles with an arcadian green salad mix) as being, “AMAZING! I love the beets and the apples.” I enjoyed a the Lone Star and heard the Southwest needs to be next.

2013 Toyota Highlander Fits Practical Family #ToyotaAdventure

IMG_7126This past week, I was given the opportunity to take a #ToyotaAdventure with the 2013 Toyota Highlander Limited V6 for a test drive. The Highlander works hard to satisfy the people-moving needs of families. It doesn’t try to be exciting or rugged, but it simply rolls along safely and comfortably.

2013 Toyota Highlander excel at people-toting. I appreciated the Highlander’s ride height and the height of its seats. In front or in the second row, they’re easy to climb into (or easy to lift a child into), and their wide, soft and flat contours make getting in easy. My husband liked its practical, spacious interior. The Highlander’s well-built, well-equipped cabin puts all the controls where they need to be, without all that much heed to fashion. 2013 Toyota Highlander has a display audio system with a USB port, Bluetooth audio streaming and Bluetooth hands-free calling connectivity. It also includes a rear backup camera, black roof rails and a cargo cover. I loved the convenience of the three-zone automatic climate control and dual power front seats, as well as woodgrain trim and the JBL premium audio system.IMG_7189

This Toyota Highlander v6 had the confidence for passing or quick takeoffs. It also has a four-wheel drive that should get you through a muddy driveway or deep snow. 2013 Toyota Highlander stays true to its family-oriented purpose with a strong set of safety features. The only thing missing are some of the advanced safety features, such as blind-spot monitors and lane-departure warning systems. Dual front, side and curtain airbags are among the Highlander’s standard equipment, as are a driver knee airbag, daytime running lights, downhill assist control (4WD models) and hill-start assist.

2013 Toyota Highlander is spacious and versatile in all the ways a busy family would want. My favorite feature is the Conversation Mirror. I always had my eyes on the road and on the kids. 🙂IMG_7199

2013 Lincoln MKZ Provides Comfort for #MKZDateNight

IMG_6746 I was looking forward to finally experiencing the new face of American luxury, or “your smarter choice for luxury,” the 2013 Lincoln MKZ through a promotion call #MKZDateNight with Grapevine Lincoln. Quite frankly, I was more impressed than I expected to be. The MKZ is a comfortable, luxury car with most of the ingredients needed to make its mark in the luxury car market.
IMG_6714 This Lincoln MKZ was loaded with the 102A Reserve Equipment Group that includes the rear-view camera system, navigation and blind-spot monitoring. It also included the Panoramic Moonroof and the Technology Package that sports Adaptive Cruise Control, automated parking assistance and a lane-keeping system. These options add some additional features over the standard equipment, which includes items like adaptive LED headlamps, MyLincoln Touch and an automatically dimming driver-side mirror. Some may look at these features as un-necessary fluff, but it does create a technology-lover’s dream cabin.

An interesting additional safety feature on the MKZ is the optional lane-keeping system. This system, when activated, utilizes a camera behind the rear-view mirror to watch the road ahead. It will identify the lines on the road and warn the driver if she strays to close to the lines. This system will actively apply turning force to the steering wheel, steering the vehicle back into the lane. This feature takes a little getting use to, but it definitely makes you alert. The MKZ also warns you if you are too close another vehicle in the front. It flashes a red light onto the windshield, pre-charges the brakes and pre-tensions the seatbelts. When I was driving, if I approached a slower vehicle, the MKZ would slow down to match its pace.

IMG_6747EcoBoost four-cylinder provided enough oomph, and it drives quietly even at highway speeds. Lincoln has done a good job instilling the MKZ with a comfortable, larger-car feel. The interior pieces are all soft-touch. There is plenty of room in the rear seats for passengers, as well. Since the gear shifter has been replaced with buttons, the center console is cleared up quite nicely for hand holding. 😉 Looking for a smart, luxury car? Head to Grapevine Lincoln to test drive. Opening Fall 2013, Grapevine Lincoln is expanding and providing more luxuries to their sales and service department, such as FREE car washes, concierge service for maintenance and COMPLIMENTARY parking and shuttle service to DFW Airport.

Need more exclusivity and poshness in your car? Beginning this weekend, Lincoln reveals the Lincoln Black Label in Pebble Beach, CA. Lincoln Black Label will be a collection of ultra-premium interior themes and exterior colors combined with an elevated level of personal customer experience. For more information, go to www.lincoln.com/blacklabel. This site will offer consumers an overview of Lincoln Black Label, including rich imagery and descriptions of the collection.

2014 Kia Sorento Powers Up the Crossover SUV

IMG_6483Recently, I have enjoyed test driving different models of Kia. This past week, I drove the 2014 Kia Sorento EX. The first thing that I noticed as I drove the Sorento was how much power it had. On the highway down to San Antonio to driving the city streets of Dallas, it was a comfortable and spacious ride for everyone in the car. The Sorento is exceptionally quiet with a scarcity of road noise and rides nicely. Its handling and steering are far from sporty, which I prefer.
IMG_6481The 2014 Kia Sorento is definitely a must-see, especially if you need a crossover SUV. I averaged 24 MPG, and I didn’t have to make any gas stops for our 5 hour road trip, well other than to the Czech Stop, but that was for the kolaches and klobasniks. When navigating the confines of a parking spot, the Sorento feels smaller than it really is because it maneuvers very well.
SorentoInterior The Sorento EX has automatic headlights, keyless ignition/entry, rear parking sensors, ambient interior lighting, rear-seat sunshades, Kia’s Uvo voice activation system, a rearview camera and dual-zone automatic climate control. This feature would have to be one that I would ALWAYS prefer. In Texas, the summer heat can take a beating on the inside temperature of the vehicle. The air-conditioned dual seats allow the front riders to enjoy the driver comfortably.

IMG_6657Since this Sorento EX has the Touring Package, it also had a power liftgate, a blind-spot-monitoring system, ventilated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen display, a navigation system, a 10-speaker Infinity surround-sound system and a panoramic sunroof. My kids REALLY enjoyed this feature as they could “see the planes and the clouds.” With the V6 power, plenty of features and a roomy interior, the 2014 Kia Sorento EX is a great option for shoppers who want something a bit bigger than the typical small crossover.

Best Family Resort in San Antonio: Omni Hotel at the Colonnade

IMG_6604
As you may know in previous posts, I am a SeaWorld “Wildside Blogger,” which means we have been visiting San Antonio…a lot. One of the first things I have to do when dealing with logistics of our trip is to find out where we are going to stay. I contacted Omni Hotels to see if we could arrange a media stay on a recent trip in San Antonio as my family takes one last summer getaway before school begins. They not only agreed, but they surprised us with a Kids’ Suite.

I was speechless when my family was shown to our “room” at the Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade. When the Omni Colonnade completed renovation this June, a Kids’ Suites was added including kid bedding, bean bag chairs, an art table, books, games and toys. This suite embody all the details and hidden surprises that a kid would only dream of having in a hotel room. It is part hotel room, part gaming fantasyland and the ultimate hotel stay for any family.

A Tour of the Kids’ Fantasy Suite

From the moment a guest enters the Kids’ Suite, you can tell that Omni Colonnade knows fun, so much that it was hard to get my kids to leave once you arrived. 😉
IMG_6508
First view as you enter the suite.
OmniTV With the touch of a button, your kids can watch TV, play a game on the Wii or XBox 360 and watch a DVD…on two TVs. But, if your child is more “creative,” they have a chalkboard wall or dry erase boards to draw on.
OmniBath
Kids loved their aquatic themed bathroom, with their shower head lower JUST FOR THEM. 🙂
IMG_6536
What could possibly beat a good snack at the end of the day? The Omni Colonnade delivers milk and cookies at turndown for every child staying. Ooh-la-la!
IMG_6553
At the end of the day, my kids enjoyed a little quiet time relaxing and reading with books from the imagination wall. The books provided are given to the Omni by SAReads, a San Antonio-based non-profit collaboration dedicated to changing the lives of children in Bexar County by dramatically increasing literacy rates. 10% of this suite’s rate goes to SAReads.

But, let’s not forget about the adults. The Kids’ Suite is connected to the tranquil master suite with living area, master bath and a comfy king bed.

The suite has a view of the pool, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed with all the noodles provided.
