2014 Chevy Volt Offers Impressive Features at Lower Cost
Chevrolet is reducing the price you need to pay if you want to “go green” on your wheels. The 2014 Chevy Volt, which offers a combination electric and gasoline-powered drivetrain, will be available for $34,995 this coming model year. That’s $5,000 less than last year, and if you subtract federal tax credits that can range as high as $7,500, the sticker price could go as low as $27,495.
Buying a Volt will give you gas-free driving for 38 miles, at which point the car’s 80 horsepower gas engine kicks into gear. However, it doesn’t power the wheels — it simply powers the 149 horsepower electric motor, with some excess going to recharge the battery. The interior of the Volt is a gorgeous and futuristic expression of technology and is what I truly love about this car. Additional glossy plastic colors add some coolness to the doors and trim colors and look great with both the Apple-inspired white center stack or the dark charcoal-colored stack. The Volt uses electrostatic switches and buttons. These controls register clicks and taps without a separate button piece that needs to move in and out. Braille-style bumps let drivers know where to press. I have admit that this took me a some time to learn. In conclusion, the 2014 Chevy Volt’s has plenty of juice to surprise and delight buyers with its mileage, interior technology and smooth road manners – for $5,000 less. 😉
